Welcome to Georgia Made Georgia Grown!
We're glad you came.
JUNE 23, 2010: We've had some major changes in the vision for our website. We're on track again, and it will be a winner when it comes live. But until then, the best way t o keep up with what's happening on a day to day basis is our social media sites, Twitter and Facebook. We are posting several times a day to both social media. And the blog (www.georgiamade.wordpress.com) is also being updated regularly.
Soon, you'll be to follow Georgia Made Georgia Grown LLC on all four platforms.
We'll be promoting eight categories of Georgia Made Georgia Grown businesses:
Communities - Are you looking for one-of-a kind activities or venues? Do you have only three days to spend in Georgia? Or are your relatives who LOVE pottery more than life itself visiting you for a few days to visit some pottery studios?
Arts - Many artists, craft makers, authors, associations & guilds, and others with creative expertise enjoy connecting with others. Our Arts category will have information about new works, events and activities our juried members are participating in.
Entertainment - I know! Musicians, actors and others ARE artists... But the Entertainment category includes details about plays, concerts, and the people and teams that put them on.
Family Farms - From U-Picks to Corn Maizes to the families who talk about what's happening, this category is the wonderful life stories of families who farm. Quite frequently, we'll be talking about farmers markets and success stories. Would you like two gallons of blackberries? Or peaches? Are you making pies for your church? This is the category that will help you locate what's available. Are you looking for alpaca fiber? Or the alpaca herself? Do your kids think milk comes from cartons at the Publix? Take them to the source... look here to see where you can go.
Festivals - Georgia has tons of really cool festivals, almost any time of the year. Art-B-Que in Avondale Estates is coming up June 12; Rutledge's Sunflower Farm Festival will be July 3-4. Both of these are not-to-be-missed. The venue for Art-B-Que is an industrial park turning artscentric. The artists who have studios here are very cool. And they throw quite a party! The Wests and the Holts plant 12 acres of their property in sunflowers every year, and over the 4th, they invite artists, entertainers and concessionaires to come out, set up, and interact with crowds who visit. All 12 acres are a U-Pick wonderland of sunflowers!
Food & Wine - Wineries, breweries and even a handcrafted distillery make a fine weekend of tasting. Match it with first rate eateries and grand Southern cuisine, and you've got culinary nirvana. When I say Athens or Douglas, does your mouth water? It should! And we haven't even started talking about prepackaged pecans, jams, chocolates and salsas. The Food & Wine category is worth staying caught up with!
Shops & Galleries - Some of our finest handmade shops and galleries are tucked into the curves of the backroads and into downtown renovations. Mark of the Potter in Clarkesville and Twisted Sisters in Louisville sneak up on you the first time you try to visit. The Chappelle Gallery in Watkinsville, The Point of Art Gallery in Union Point and All Things Georgia in Savannah's City Market are worth the few minutes it takes to set your GPS for them. Read about them at Shops & Galleries on Facebook.
Hospitality - You'll be pleasantly surprised at the finds at our bed & breakfasts, spas, resorts, yurts, and boutique hotels! The food, the service, and most of all, the PEOPLE will charm and delight you. You'll be trying to stretch out your stay in Georgia another few days this time, then planning to be back for your next downtime adventure.
